DSM 7 and Plex update sort of successful

Server Version#:1.24.5.5173-7000
Player Version#:5.28.2 Samsung TV (dont know if this right info)

Hi, I am new to this and so apologies if this is the wrong place for the question.

I managed to update Plex following most of the instructions from this forum after DSM 7 update. Eventually got there but I am wondering if I need tso folders called Plex and PlexMediaServer on my NAS? Now that it is looking in the rioght place and my libraries are restored, can Plex folder be removed?

Thanks

According to this post, you are good to delete the Plex folder after successful migration. PlexMediaServer is the new database/application folder.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. I did read that the Plex folder was no longer required however when re-installing Plex I had to go through setting up permissions but now that I think about it, it was giving the Plex user permissions rather than permission to the folder. Does that make sense? If thats the case then I guess the folder can be removed.

Just a bit concerned that I ruin my new install!

User Plex isn’t used anymore either.

The username to grant access for is PlexMediaServer (system internal user)

Per the release info:

  1. “Plex” share no longer needed – may be deleted
  2. Username “Plex” no longer used – may be deleted
  3. Everything now is based on ‘PlexMediaServer’ name (DSM 7 required change)

Thanks for the very useful information, much appreciated.

Have a good day.
