Client hangs when reconnecting to local plex server

If the plex server is not running when the client attempts to connect to it, you get a “retry” option, which hangs and doesnt find the server even when other clients can connect and play from the plex server. Steps to recreate:

  • Plex server off
  • Load any client and try to connect to the offline plex server
  • boot the plex server
  • click retry in the client when it says “server unavailable, please reconnect / retry”
  • it hangs for minues. exiting the app and going into the same server, will work
