Clients will not attempt to connect if Plex server offline on startup

Hi,

This has bugged me forever and I can’t figure out how to work around it. My Plex server runs a script to go to sleep if there’s no network activity. I can wake it up with a WoL packet at which point it takes and the Plex server comes back on line. I then launch the Plex app and all is well.

However, sometimes the app is launched before Plex is up (my wife’s favourite trick) or the app was running and Plex server went to sleep as I wandered off to do something for 30 minutes (like the dishes). In these cases the Plex app cannot find the Plex server and it goes into a “Plex server is dead to me” mode - there is no way, that I can see, to get the Plex app to reconnect to the Plex server. The only solution is to close the app and then to relaunch it - which on a TV-based app is a huge pain in the neck.

What I would have expected is that returning to “home” would result in a reconnection attempt, or simple “refresh” button that would force reconnection attempts to the Plex server.

What am I missing?

Thanks!
