Client on PC does not show NAS server!

I have a Teramaster F2-210 with 2 x 4T hdd’s. There is a PC connected to the NAS that works fine. This is a new installation and I have reloaded all software, plus Terramaster people got the one PC client working. Dudes at Terramaster only fix things they do not explain. Plus the software is not really their domain.

Any time I hook up another client it does not show the NAS?

I have been frustrated for weeks now on this problem and am in desperate need of some guidence. I have read Plex documents but they leave something to be desired.

Thank You!!!

Assuming the NAS is where your media is, it must be connected to your Plex server, not the client machines. If your Windows PC sees the NAS as some kind of file share or mounted drive… And if your Plex server is on that PC too… You should have what you need to set up Plex libraries.

I have a Plex server on the NAS and two client PC’s. One PC works fine, the other one says ‘You don’t have any connected servers’ on the Grant Library Access. I guess one of the things I don’t understand is the logging in and what account to do that with. I also don’t quite get the accounts and how they work. Any help would be appreciated!

That makes more sense, it sounded like you were doing something else.

If you are having trouble “seeing” the server from a PC, start by logging in to the PC Plex client with the same account that is used on the server.

Well I did get my one working PC client not to work. That gave me some information. But I still don’t get how to log into client while using a different account? Can you tell me how to do that?

Bob

What kind of account? a plex.tv account?
If so, by default a plex user can only see and access servers which are in his own account.
In order ot get access to other Plex servers, their respective owners need to explicitly grant access to you.

The Plex server and client both require you to sign in with a Plex.tv account. Like this account, the one you used to get into the forum. Is this the same account you used to sign in to your Plex server?

Sign in to the server and client with the same Plex account and let’s go from there.

I am now convinced my problem lies in logging in and accounts. I guess I do not understand these completly. You said to log into server (I am assuming you mean the NAS media server) but I do not know how to do this. One of my problems is trying to understand what I am logged into. I log into my PC and the upper left corner says “PLEX”, and i believe this is the local machine. I have no idea about PLEX.TV.
Any help with this and I am greatly thankful

Thank you for your help and Happy New Year!!!

In Plex lingo I guess you do not “log in” to the server, you “claim” it which requires logging in on a client.

Take a look at this. And any time you need to provide a username/password, use the SAME ONE, probably the one you used for this forum.

I followed this to the point of doing SETTING>GENERAL but the screen does not look the same. First there is no CLAIM SERVER area or button. Then my NAS in the left column is not connected to the server iit seems. Clicking on it says the NAS is unreachable. Yet I am logged into the web app on the NAS. Searching for a cause!

BTW: I have a PLEX PASS. I don’t know if that helps.
