Hi, as the headline mentions, the stream when playing it directly in VLC, contains Closed Captions. the recorded TS file, which should not be transcoded or tampered with, does not contain Closed Captions. This is a problem in my effort to take the CC and convert it to SRT.
i don’t know if this helps but here is my experience. When a show is initially recorded (TS), I can’t see any CC (the Plex players report there is no CC in the file). When I post process using MCEBuuddy, I ask it to extract CC and add it to the converted file (MKV) and then Plex players do show there is CC (and they work quite well). FWIW
Though , when i play the live stream in VLC, it shows CC, but the recorded stream does not show any CC. I have tried CC extractor but it doesnt find any CC in the TS.
I’m in the USA, so getting ATSC subtitles. When I ran a test recording with PMS 1.8.x the other day closed captions were indeed in the .ts file because MrMC could play them.
But, it seems like other standards for closed captions aren’t being recorded at all if I understand some other threads correctly.
