Cloud is not a sync destination

Hey all,
4 year PMS veteran here…

I’ve got a server running on Ubuntu Server 16.04. My account has Plex pass and I have google drive and drop box authed to the account for storage for Plex Cloud. Plex Cloud has google drive as storage for one library and drop box is the storage location for another library.

I’ve had google drive authed for many months now but never tried to sync to the Cloud until now. Drop box was only authed when I started investigating Plex Cloud as a sync option.

Plex Cloud is not an option to sync to on the desktop web app. I only see two phones that I have on my account. I have tried to set up sync jobs for both libraries as each uses a different Cloud storage provider.

I tried restarting the Plex Cloud server and my PMS server to no avail. I also tried loading the Plex web app from Plex.tv and from the PMS itself with no difference.

Perhaps I’m reading the documentation wrong and this isn’t an option to set up a sync job to Plex Cloud?

There is Plex Cloud (the server) which reads your media from other cloud sources like DropBox or Google

and

There is Cloud Sync (the storage) which you can send files to. It’s a mini-server in that it is an extension of your main server. Only the server itself knows which files go with which real titles.

When in the player, if you select your Cloud Sync server, you see all the media which has been sync’d to the cloud. It’s already in ready-to-play format.

This is the primary difference between Plex Cloud and Cloud Sync.

Plex Cloud processes on demand, with no ability to store whereas Cloud Sync is the effective ‘companion’ of that processing and is the “smart mini-server/streamer” for your app.

How would I go about syncing to my Cloud Sync from my standard PMS? When I click sync within the web player app on my computer Cloud Sync is not a destination. I have both Drop Box and Google Drive set up as both storage for Plex Cloud and as Cloud Sync storage providers in my account.

What fixed it for me was going into my Cloud Sync storage and unlinking and then reauthorizing both Drop Box and Google Drive. Then I had to restart the PMS service on my Ubuntu server, do a hard refresh of the web app in my desktop’s browser and Cloud Sync was an option.
