Now I know my account works because I’ve used it on my phone are use it on a TV and a fire cube but whenever I go to try to add this other player I have I’m looking at the code on the screen I can see the code but I typed it in and it says code is expired or invalid. But it can’t be expired or invalid because I’m staring at it. And I’ve tried this numerous times now and I still get the same result. However I can log out of any of my other devices like I logged out of my fire cube and back in no problems.
And what is this other player? For the code to work it needs to be able to talk back to Plex.tv. Sounds like something is wrong so the app can’t communicate properly to verify the code.
Some android box. It doesn’t have a name on it. But I put plex from the play store on it. But yes When I go in to add it to Plex.tv/link it always says the code is invalid or expired
Does the box actually come with Google Play or did you sideload it from somewhere else?
It came with Google play I don’t know any android box it doesn’t. I have 2 of the same box. 1 loads fine. The other does this and acts like it isn’t giving the code out over the internet.
Are both boxes connected the same way on your network? Both on WiFi or both wired? Maybe try changing the connection on the one not working.
Tried the ones that don’t work both Wi-Fi and ethernet even took them to someone else’s house to try on their Internet I don’t know why and I’ve got like I said two of the same box same company both made by zoom tech. And one works one will not
Do you have access to another Plex account? If not maybe make a new one and see if you can link the box to this new account. Maybe there is something with your account. Or maybe there is something with the box that won’t allow you to link 2 of them.
I’ve got the same problem. Plex client installed via the Google Play store on an X-96 Mini. Generate the code, navigate to Plex.tv/link and it complains that the code is invalid or expired.
The weird thing is that registering the Plex plugin for Kodi on the same device works fine but doesn’t really solve my problem as the Kodi plugin is out of date and doesn’t give me the live TV and DVR functionality.
Could this be a DRM issue? I’ve had problems in the past with some subscription service apps because the device ships rooted but in their case they just pop up an error saying they won’t run on rooted devices.
No I don’t think that’s the problem. Because I have the same box I know it’s built by zoomtak. And neither of them are android TV so they are not going to have the DRM protection on them.
So on the one I have reinstalled flex several times because I wanted to see if it was an install issue and if deleting and reinstalling change being able to register the code. I also have signed out and sign back in no problem. So the same model box I try the other one that I have it don’t do it it flips out. And acts like he can’t find the code. Now I have a problem like what you’re talking about with Netflix I can’t run Netflix or Hulu or apps like that on this box. But I have an android TV box And I can run Disney+ Hulu Amazon prime all with no issues. Plex also installs on android TV boxes with no issue. But it can’t be a DRM thing because again same model box one works one does not seem Internet same everything.
Confirmed NOT DRM related. I unrooted the x96 mini and still have the same problem.
A question for the Plex team - Is there any way to bypass the “user friendly” way of authenticating and just login using regular credentials?? This is getting beyond ridiculous.
@morepowerrules Can you restart the Plex app on the one that is working, sign out and back in, then get me the logs? I’d like to see how this one behaves to see if there is any clue to why the other one doesn’t want to work.
