I’m also interested, this could be great to order by “chronological” order according to the movies! (Star Wars, X-Men, Batman, etc)
Would love to be able to have Collections custom order. For example, a collection where I can organize movies based on Chronological Order or Theatrical Order.

Yeah, exactly, we definitely need this. Kinda important for the (many) franchises around nowadays that have a different Chronological Order to the Theatrical Release Order… hopefully the Plex devs will sort this out soon.
yea this is a definite ability that will be much appreciated. Can’t happen soon enough. Please remember that a custom ability in this sorting process is by far what many of us are looking for. Being able to sort by Watch Order is very important.

All I want is a few of my collections to be sorted by release date newest to oldest instead of the opposite default. Please make the possible already!
BTW a smart collection won’t work for me because I need to hide the items in the collection which you can’t do with a smart collection.

We already said we are. The reason the drop down is there is because we are. It is not done yet through
I don’t mean for this to sound rude… But if it isn’t ready, why is the drop-down option visible?

This is my #1 requested feature right now ;). I’d love a full featured ordering method though. One with all kinds of filtering like in smart playlists.

Smart collections already exist
I know but is not the same. I want more powerful ordering methods for a manual collection
then IMO you should make a new feature request and describe what you mean, Saying you want it “like smart playlist” when we already have smart collections that can sort literally the exact same way as smart playlist is not descriptive enough. In the request give an example

The “Randomly” ordering method would be great in the movies metadata screen, specially with big collections in clients with no scrolling like ATV. Looking always at the same first movies is a drag
Right now I’m doing this in a pretty convoluted way. First I create a collection with the desired movies, then a smart playlist with a “Collection is” advanced filter and the desired ordering method, say Release Date in reverse order. And then you can create a Smart Collection keeping the same filters. Not the best way of doing this. And you can’t see smart collections in the metadata screens.
I do something similar. I label items I want in specific collections and then just make a smart collection based on that label. Then whenever I add the label to another movie is immediately added to the smart collection without having another collection and a playlist
