I noticed today when editing a collection that there s now a dropdown option for ‘Custom’ as well as the preexisting ‘Alphabetical’ and ‘Release Date’, but choosing it doesn’t seem to have any effect. Also can’t seem to find any reference to this… is it something that’s coming soon but not working at the moment, or am I just being dumb and not good at internet?
Just noticed this as well today. Tried on several parts of the collection to change the sorting with no results. Also can’t find this anywhere online.
That’s on me. It is something we are experimenting with… so it doesn’t do anything today.

I am very interested in this as well. I have been waiting and waiting for “Collection Customization”. If this feature is on the horizon, that would make many Plex-ers ecstatic, including myself.
StSimm1…can you provide us any insight into what they are “experimenting” with? Also, can you provide any insight as to when Plex anticipates this feature to be “live”?

I was trying to figure this out too! How can I make a custom order for a collection until this option is online?

I would love to find out about this too. Custom doesn’t seem any different than Alphabetical.
I just noticed this today too and got so excited! @StSimm1 you’ve stoked the hype now! 
Looking forward to when this gets released. There are several of my collections that would benefit from this!

Hah, I just saw this when updating Star Wars posters and found this after googling the very same thing. You beat me by five hours.
What’s going on with this? It’s such a horrible tease. I’m guessing/hoping one of two things:
straight up interactive interface where we can drag/drop items into position. I doubt this one, as it’s more work, but it’d be cool.
A “sort order” numeric field in media details that’s only active when placed within a collection set to custom sort order. Put numbers, it sorts by those numbers, done.
Hoping it’s the first one, tbh. I might want a film to be in one position in Collection A and another position in Collection B so a sort order tied to the film (not the collection) would be a bit limiting.
It would be great if Custom could be matched up with chronological lists for things like DC Comics and Marvel movies and tv shows. Can’t wait to see this in action!

I have just been adding all my movies that I have from the IMDB 250 into a collection and started wondering if there was a way to sort into that order. Would love it if custom orders was possible for collections.
