I’m loving the advanced settings for collections as it let’s me collapse a series into one item in the movies library, but I have one issue. I want to make an “Aladdin” collection with movie 1-3 in it and hide the movie so only the collections will be visible…ok, no problem so far. But then I also want to add those movies to a bigger collection called “Disney Classic Animations”. I don’t want to see this collection in the library, only to use it as a filter.
The issue is, as soon as I tag the Aladdin movies in any other collection, they re-appear as individual movies in my library. Am I doing something wrong? Would you organize it differently? I wish entire collections could be tagged into larger collections. That way the “Aladdin” collection would show up in the movies library AND the “Disney Classic Animations” collection as one unit (not 3 separate movies). Aladdin is just one example. I’m running into this issue a lot.
Iron Man x3 (collection)
Thor x3 (collection)
Avengers x3 (collection)
all under the Marvel Cinematic Universe collection
Batman Trilogy (collection)
under the DC Superheroes collection
Ghibli Films x9 (collection)
under the Japanese Anime collection
See what I mean?
In every case the smaller collection is to condense files in the movies library and the larger collection is purely for filtering, but I can’t get it to work the way I want.
There’s a feature suggestion / request for that.
Currently, Plex prioritizes the setting for displaying items over that of hiding them. So if you set the Disney collection to show all its items, this will automatically also override the “hide items” setting for those that are in the Aladdin collection.
