Collection Modes affecting multiple movies and other collections

So here’s my issue. When organizing movies into collections, sometimes you have movies that are part of a franchise and sometimes you have a collection of movies because they share an author - say Stephen King. For franchises you set them to Hide Items in Collection so it’s just one collection of movies with the same title (i.e., Halloween, Friday the 13th, etc.) For a Stephen King collection not all of the movies are franchise films, just one off adaptations like The Mist, Hearts in Atlantis, Misery and so forth, but some of his films are franchise or remakes so you can’t really hide all of them. Here where’s the issue comes in.

I make a collection for IT, Carrie, Pet Semetary, The Shining/Doctor Sleep while they also occupy my Stephen King Collection set to show all items in it. However, when doing so it displays the movies themselves and their adjacent collection next to each other - IT Collection, IT, IT 2017 and IT Chapter 2 all in my library. The problem is when one movie in 2 separate collections that have differing collection modes they fight each other on their visibility.

I’m new to these forums and was wondering if there’s a way to get this to Plex and make this an updated feature for Collections or even for movie tags that decide for individual films what can be visible or not depending on their collection or if there’s an override feature. Thank you for your help!

There’s a feature suggestion addressing this, asking for “hiding items” to take priority over displaying them:

Still can’t delete Plex generated collections with 0 movies from collection

Bug causing errors when deleting collections was addressed in a recent update … if you’re still having trouble might want to start a dedicated post for for your specific case.
