In a Movies library there are top bar choices for Recommended, Library, Collections, Categories. However in a TV Show library there’s only Recommended, Library, Categories. Any collection created shows like an actual show. These should be separated like in a Movie library
I stumbled on this when I was trying to create collections of cartoon episodes for halloween, xmas, etc.; being able to build seasonal show bundles seems like a useful thing
Which client type are you talking about?
It’s the Plex client app for Mac, version 1.109.0
When was the first collection created?
If that happened only recently, simply wait a few more days. Close and re-open the app.
You can also try
Settings - ‘Show Advanced’ - Plex for Mac - Debug - “Restore Defaults”
Do also check the setting “Collections” on the Advanced tab of the library properties.
Closing the app after creating the collections works. You then get the Collections option at the top
However another unusual side effect is the collection name shows in the TV Show library (like it’s a new series) unlike Movies library which doesn’t show collections in the library view. This is most likely due to the various seasons being stuff into a folder and the collections also being considered a folder. There probably needs to be some kind of flag between the two types of folders so they don’t show in the library view
This is wholly dependent on the “Collections” preference in the properties of the library. It can be set differently in every library.
Do also keep in mind that the “collection mode” that you can set in the properties of the collection is separate by library.
Technically, the collections in your movie library and in the tv shows library are different from each other – even if they happen to have the same title.
