Collections LAG heavily when more than 200 or 250 items

Server version: 1.41.5.9522

App version:
2025.16.0
Phone info:
Android 14, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Opening and scrolling through a collection with many items is extremely laggy. Restarting and reinstalling the app does not help. Happens with any collection with a lot of items. It seems the react list used is not dynamically rendering the items as you scroll and instead loads every image from the items at once.

This slowdown is repeatable on other phones I have.

You’ll want to update your server to 1.41.6 to see performance improvements with collections.

Okay I will try this tonight. This referenced patch note though says media details screen. My issue is with the collections page. Will it also remedy the actual collections page scrolling being very laggy?

I have now confirmed on all my devices that this issue STILL persists with the latest server version: v 1.41.6.9685.

As a reminder, it is Not the media details page I am having issues with, it is opening the collections themselves that have a lot of media. It slows down to single frames a second when scrolling!!

Thanks for confirming. I create a very large collection and can see the lag you’re referring to. Odd that when opening the same collection as a Hub and it’s not as bad. Regardless thanks for reporting. I’ll create an internal issue to track this.

Ahh, I would say “awesome” you could see it too and it was reproducible, but I guess it is not awesome that it is an issue for everyone haha.

Thanks so much for the quick feedback and bringing it up to the team!! My first time using the forums for bug reporting so I’m glad you guys are on it

Is there any update to this by any chanceee

Issue is still present as of July 15, 2025 on the latest android app version 2025.20.0

Only large collections for me. Somewhere around when I scroll beyond the 200th or so item in my large collections it begins to lag heavily. Its important to note here that entering into the collection that has over 200 items doesn’t immediately lag for me until I’ve scrolled down past around the 200th item or so and then everything is laggy above and below in that collection and even leaving the collection and coming back in everything is laggy even before i get back down to the 200th item

Unfortunately it doesn’t matter if it’s smart or not for me :frowning: in fact, the very first one I noticed this issue on was a smart collection

Have you ever used the repair/optimization script?

If your Plex data folder happens to be on a ZFS volume, align the database block size to the filesystem’s block size.

Not in ZFS. Also this is a client side issue not a server DB issue. The client itself loses FPS.

still an issue…. no plex developers acknowledging again
