New iOS App Collections Browsing

Server Version#: 1.41.5.9522
Player Version#: 2025.15.0

I have seen a lot of frustration surrounding the new iOS app, but have not seen anyone talking about the issue which has been most notable for me since the new was rolled out (there are some signs of similar issues on Apple TV back in 2021/2022). I’ve waited through multiple rounds of app updates expecting a fix, but they seem to be working on everything but my biggest pain point.

Has anyone else found navigation has gotten painfully slow since the update? Specifically, when clicking into a manual collection. For example, collections which I can see listed in a snap; however, if I click on any one of those collections to view the items within it takes upwards of 30+ seconds to display the contents.

Additionally, half the screen is dead space, where the browser client has a poster for the collection itself, but the mobile app just has a gradient color background consuming 2/3 of the screen.

Finally, if a particular collection has a large number of videos in it (e.g. home media), the app just crashes entirely as you start to scroll the the list.

This combination of issues has basically rendered the mobile iOS app experience unusable for me until performance is improved considerably.

At least the “long loading time” issue was addressed in a server update.

Thank you! This fixed the loading time issue. I still noted one crash, even after manually restarting the iOS app, while browsing a large collection; however, the crashing issue seems to be reduced as well.

My main grievance now seems to be ignoring the poster art to display just a color gradient background. Where the new app has such as focus on appearances and aesthetic over the old one, that part still seems like a step backward. At least the app is seemingly functional again in the meantime though!
