When I open a personal media library organized into collections, the child items don’t load.
If I browse and sort by release date, expanding the collections, everything is there. This is on Apple TV only (beta 7.23) everything works fine on iOS, Plex web, etc.
When browsing by collection it shows the correct number of child items, but when you browse into it, nothing shows, regardless of the item count.
UPDATE:
The videos do actually load… they just take forever. In the link below you can see an example: a collection with 2 items takes 63 seconds to populate. https://streamable.com/a80s0b
I’ve tried reproducing this but collections and their content seem to be showing as expected on my setup (Apple TV 4K 1st gen w/ tvOS 14, Plex for tvOS 7.23).
Can you reproduce this on your end and share the app logs?
Apple TV 4K 1st gen (A1842) w/ tvOS 14.7, Plex for tvOS 7.23 (1045)
Also see the video I linked above to see what I’m seeing… https://streamable.com/a80s0b
Also tried this on a couple of personal media libraries and the behavior was identical
I have a little more info to share… I have multiple Apple TV’s and they all exhibit this behavior when accessing this Plex server.
I also have access to other Plex servers, however, and they do NOT exhibit this behavior on the same Apple TVs.
It has something to do with my main (local) Plex server interacting with the Apple TV app only. I performed an “optimize database” and “clean bundles” on the server, but it did not fix the issue.
The issue appears to be more generally excruciatingly slow collections performance with a large plex server interacting with AppleTV
I have been experiencing this as well.
Server Version 1.24.3.5033
AppleTV 4k (1st gen) Client Version 7.23
AppleTV 4k (2nd gen) Client Version 7.23
I have not noticed that it is slow. Collections never load at all. I have a huge movie library however. My experience looks exactly like Sdub videos he shared.
It is fixed for me. I am starting to wonder if this issue is related:
I have 4 AppleTV’s and I wonder if each time they tried to get a list of movies they were making insane calls to my plex server and killing the performance. I guess I will keep an eye on this to see if it goes away.
