Collections View

I recently tried MediaBrowser to see if it was better (definitely not) it did have one feature I would really like to see plex adopt. It is a collections view, the user can place movies, television shows, books, music , or any other related media in a collection folder where the user can find all of the media in one place.

Consider this example,

Star Trek

Star Trek Next Generation (the series)

     Star Trek Nemisis (Movie)

     ect.

Media Browser also gave an option to show the collection in the movies section allowing the user to see "The Saw Collection" instead of seven different Saw movies.

I often got this. especially with manga series and OAV...

A Franchise-filter would be awesome

+1 voted.  XBMC/Kodi and WMC have similar functionality and I miss this feature a lot. This would be great since more and more movie sequels are dropping the number and going on giving the sequels their own name.  I have my collection organized already for these groups since I use Media Center Master for some of my automation and metadata scraping and organzing.

I too have tried Media Brower 3 but found it to be too unstable, especially with its transcoding for Chromecast.

I noticed since I posted this that there is a way to add media to a collection, however, I still believe this is a needed feature as the user cannot add media from different folders to the same collection or have all of the Harry Potter movies show up as "the Harry Potter Collection".

There is already a request on this, feel free to vote (like the first post) and bump it up: [Movie Collections Feature Request](https://forums.plex.tv/topic/81160-movie-collections/?hl=collection)

Thanks I looked for another post but didn't see it I just liked it.

Early 2021 clean-up: implemented (collections -> same-named collections across multiple libraries will show as related items in your collection – e.g. “Star Wars” movies and “Star Wars” tv-shows)
