As in a similar view to TV Shows, but without episodes and big screen (no keyboard shortcuts) friendly (i.e. remotes)
Currently with the way collections works, i have to:
left arrow → choose collection → select collection, then if i change my mind untick that collection and choose another
Wouldn’t it be better if after clicking on your main Section (i.e. movies) it would take you straight into collections and those random films that aren’t in a collection? I would like to have all my movies in one folder located on my NAS and then say have all the bond films in a collection. Then simply click on that bond collection and it expands to show all the movies… and just as easily skip back to the main section to view another collection. After a while the movies section gets so big, it’s a pain to scroll through everything.
I get around this currently by creating multiple sections…but then i have some films that could go in a couple of sections and i don’t want to duplicate files. Plus, now the home page has 20 different sections that take a while to scroll through vertically.
It could also then cross reference films in various collections. I could have all the pixar films in a pixar collection, but then those that are in the top imdb 250 also appear seamlessly in that collection as well.
At the moment it all seems just a bit… basic

This is how I always envisioned collections SHOULD operate, and how I wish they would. I agree with this 100%, and in fact have often wished for it myself. Thanks for laying it out so clearly, Ockingshay.

Go into these feature requests and show your support for them by adding a “Like” to the first post of each thread. Don’t just +1 it. You’re wasting your time if you don’t add a “Like” as this is how votes are counted.
For anyone interested, I spent a little time and pulled all of the posts related to “Collections” (that I could find) into sort of a summary post with counts. Its pretty interesting to see how many posts there were on the same idea and how popular a lot of them were. Just goes to show how many people are interested in this feature and also on how little attention it seems to be getting from the development team :-/ Maybe by pulling together some stats we might be able to encourage some actual progress?
