So I have an unraid PMS server which houses a ton of media (tv shows, movies, home videos).
I also have a PMS on my iMac which houses my music and photo sections as well as all the channels.
I'd love if there was some way to largely combine these PMS. right now I have to switch between the two in plex web or my iPad/iphone to browse certain sections or accomplish certain tasks.
with the now playing section I have to connect to the right server to see who is viewing what off that server. instead it'd be nice to just see who is viewing my content at any time regardless of what server it is on. both of these servers are signed into myplex so it's the same account.
I suggested something similar in the regular forums. Basically the response was no, as it is the intention to keep them separate. I did suggest for an overview in the plex client to consolidate to an overview page.
Is it possible to add the mac media folder to your PMS under the specific section?
Essentially the iMac is used as a channel server. I use the itunes and photo channels that are built into the PMS. they work really well. I've suggested they make the iTunes plugin sit with all the rest of your media sections bc it's so good... but anyways.
I dont have any channels on my unraid server. But aside from not wanting to mess with changing servers all the time some of the new features they're introducing only show up when you've selected a specific media server. for instance, the now playing section only shows whats playing on your currently selected media server. I'd much rather to just see everything that playing on all my media servers.
technology at this point is in such a flux. it's really frustrating that there's not just one system to rule them all. my unraid server is awesome, but the fact it can't handle a lot of channels is frustrating. in addition i like my imac and the productivity i can accomplish with it. I can't use my unraid as my sole computer. I wish I could just have one computer that could do it all (run an OS, support a backup system with redundancy, support all plex channels) but unfortunately that system doesn't exist.
