Commercial ad skipping on recordings not working

Recently installed Plex Server into clean DietPI on Raspberry PI 4. Using USB tuner and Freeview in UK. All working fine - live , record etc.

Commercial skip does not work. I have set recordings to detect and mark commercials as outlined in guide. Have scheduled several recordings and no matter what I do it does not seem to work. have checked permissions on folder for recordings (set to plex:dietpi) and recordings can be written ok.

Investigated the media info and checked XML and seems to show commercial markers

Scanning through show the offsets coincide with pre-show ads and in-show ads and has correctly detected the two ad sections almost perfectly.

When I play a show on Web and iOS one show very briefly shows a white box “skip ads” but I cannot click this - if I try to it vanishes. It vanishes within seconds.

Can anyone offer any opinion?

Over past few days I have recorded numerous shows. In XML data I can see commercial detection is correct. When I load the file in VLC and go to the time stamps marked by commercial tracker it is accurately detecting ads.

When I run the player in Plex I very briefly see a skip ads button but when I think I have clicked it no change - ads don’t skip. I get no confirmation I have clicked the button and it vanishes in less than 2 seconds if I don’t click it. As an ad break comes up in show (at the time point shown in XML and confirmed in VLC) there is no prompt to skip and the full break plays.

I purchased a Fire TV stick to try and as it was on offer. Now seeing same behaviour on iOS app (iPad Pro and iPhone Pro on latest OS and app version), tvOS app (current gen 4k aTV on latest OS and app), web player (macOS 12 with latest Safari) and on FireTV (latest with latest OS and app).

I must be doing something wrong but I cannot work out what. Can anyone offer any opinion, suggestion or similar experience? It is spoiling an otherwise perfect Plex for me.
