Compatibility of Nas hardware-accelerating Streaming

Server Version#: 1.25.5.5492
Player Version#: IOS

i’m using plex server on QNAP TS-464c with the Intel® Celeron® Processor N5105. When I tried to stream a 4k movie as 1080p on my phone, the plex web app’s dashboard showed that it was not using hardware-acc and my cpu usage is like 90-ish. and I have checked the ‘Use hardware acceleration when available’.
Does the current verison of Plex Sever still not compatible with this processor?

This model isn’t listed on the compatibility matrix (not the CPU)…

Keep i. Mind that not all transcoding use cases can be handled using hw-accelerated transcoding (e.g. no burning in of subtitles)

Thank you!

Did you also check Use hardware-accelerated video encoding?

Do not check Enable HDR Tonemapping. That uses the CPU, not the GPU, and the Celeron is not strong enough to tonemap using the CPU.

yeah I have checked both of them and uncheck the HDR tonemapping, but it still uses CPU on transcoding. I also tried using container to mount the /dev/dri in runtime and it is still not working. I guess this model is not supported by plex yet. :sob: :sob:

anyway, thank you!

Hello ,my CPU is N5105 too,and my NAS is TS-464C.
I want to know when plex can support new cpu, like N5105 or more.
I sincerely hope to support this cpu as soon as possible。

Plex supports TS-464c HW transcoding now![quote=“CaoJY, post:8, topic:777558, full:true”]

See this thread. QNAP has some work to do on their end.

Seems the issue is more with QNAP. Might be better to open a ticket with them
