Hello,
While compressing some files overnight last week my windows 10 computer crashed. the computer ran but the screen was black.I was bae to get into BIOS and the screen was fine. I then tried the windows repair and was unsuccessful. I decided to reinstall the os. I disconnected all drives, except for the os drive. after the install was complete I downloaded the server app and began to reconfigure my media files. I let the computer run and find all media files overnight. when I returned to the computer the next day I found that i am missing around 200 movies. the tv shows and music seem unaffected by this. does anyone have any tips on how to find the missing movies. I doubt that they were deleted during the os install because I had the drives disconnected.
I have 6 4tb red 7200rpm red drives configured in a windows storage space.
I am pretty irritated at this point and would appreciate any guidance.
Thanks
If the library was older than 2 years, Plex has changed since then.
It has lost access to a search engine which would take care of files which deviated from the recommended naming schema, so mismatches are more likely.
Plus, all the manual corrections you may have done in the past are lost now.
Follow my above link, it can give you some tips where to look first.
Plex can only go by the files and folders you added to its media libraries.
If there are only 1027 on file storage, then Plex can only show these 1027.
Either you forgot to add a folder containing additional movies to the Plex library,
or there were additional movies stored on the system drive, which was deleted.
Or the movies count was incorrect before.
Or you just discovered how bad and unreliable Storage Spaces is generally when the PC has issues.
There are far more reliable ways to pool drives in Windows (at a cost).
I have been using the first one without issue since inception (close to 10 years I guess). I know it wont help you get those missing files back but may prevent it happening again. The UI is pretty clear and makes it clear if for example a single drive dies or temporarily disconnects due to a loose cable, for example.
the files are there. drive properties show that 7.3Tb are being used. that is the amount of drive space was being utilized before the os reinstall. I am juts not sure how to find them. I have setting to show hidden files, but I am still not seeing them.
