I just did a fresh install of my operating system. I downloaded the latest version of plex media server to my PC. I have a dedicated hard drive with movies on it only for plex. The number of movies on the drive is 13 more than what shows in plex. Library scan does nothing. Before the fresh install the number of movies matched exactly. I am the only user. I don’t suppose since the reinstall you have enabled collections?
As far as I’m aware it throws the movie count out badly.
e.g… 8 Harry Potter movies in a collection = 1 movie when Plex counts them.
What you describe here, are symptoms, and most likely what @Xhaka says due to Collections
But you can check with WebTools FindMedia module
Hello, I did as you said but what am I looking for specifically? The number of movies does not change.
Thanks,
I have 1997 movies in a 4TB drive dedicated just for movies. Plex shows that there are 2308 movies. There are many, many duplicates in Plex. Do you think emptying the trash might help? I could delete the duplicates manually I guess.
I disabled collections as you suggested. Now the new total is 1976. The number of movies on the hard drive is 1997. Any suggestions? Thanks
I made a mistake. There are 1977 movies on the hard drive. so now plex has 1976 movies. I can live with that. Thanks for your help.
