Server Version#:4.141.0
I have had to do a complete factory reset of my windows 11 computer and then reinstall everything.
I have not renamed to computer but now find that it is showing (with a complete folder list) as being unavailable with another computer (exactly the same name) showing as being available but without any content.
Is there any way that I can make Plex recognise that they are the same computer so that I don’t have to setup my whole database etc. again?
Not without prior planning. There are some registry keys that contained your server ID and some other info, when you reset your PC those would have been lost.
But did you backup your %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server folder before doing the restore? You might be able to use that backup to restore your database, wont be the same server but would save a lot of time.
No I didn’t.
Looks like I will have to set up my database & folders again then.
Am I able to remove the unavailable server somehow as the last time I was in this situation I couldn’t see any way of doing anything other than unpinning all of the libraries.
Not seeing a good Plex KA for this, but How to Remove a Server from Plex - Plexopedia and then it will drop off your players automatically
Thank you
I just had a look at that. I was aware that when I go in to authorised devices I can actually delete devices however, given that my server is simply called my pc name, both the old and the new have exactly the same name and I don’t want to remove the wrong one.
All it will require is to re-login to the serve if you remove the wrong one.
Thank you ve4y much for your assistance.
