Comskip Processing on Existing TS Files

Server Version#: 1.32.8.7639
Player Version#:
I know this has been discussed before, but please indulge my request and explanation. I have had several data drive issues that have resulted in no data loss, but occasional disconnect of the drive used for TV content. Bottom line is when this happens, I can restore data content but lose all commercial skip and detect data. After restoring episodes, Plex will detect intros and credits, create the thumbnails and content frames, but does not rescan for commercials.

I know others who may have obtained content from other than an attached tuner have requested manual commercial detection for their content. This to me is the same request. Having the DVR setup and all Library options selected will still not generate the commercial detection.

So, A: is there some script, batch file or other sorcery that can help me? B: Will Plex engineers ever address this request to manually detect commercials (I detect for skipping, I do not detect to delete commercials). C: If you decide to close this as a duplicate, please point me to the active Topic that addresses adding this feature.

Thank you. Happy New Year.

If you have setup your library per the directions under Using Commercial Detection on Regular TV Libraries https://support.plex.tv/articles/115003944134-removing-commercials/ then it will happen during the scheduled tasks window after you have “Analyzed” the season.

Then disable “empty trash automatically…”.

Thank You @pl_5309 and @OttoKerner for your help. Yes, I see that selecting Analyze on a Season will initiate ComSkip processing. Not sure if same will occur on individual episode, or on Show (for all seasons).

Suggestion though is this: Once initiated, you have no indication it is running unless you check the server disk and task activity. It does not indicate anything if you check dashboard on the web app or PlexDash. That would be a nice feature, to monitor the ComSkip process.
