Configure TV/Receiver DTS Atmos TrueHD DTS-X Support in Android TV Client

In Plex Media Player on Windows you can configure the capability of the receiver for audio streams, for example saying 5.1 and DD but not DTS. The reason is Plex detects what the Android TV is capable of which might not be what the actual TV/Receiver Supports.

My specific example is I have a Nvidia Shield TV which does DTS, TrueHD, DTS-X, Atmos etc however, I have a Sonos Playbar which can only decode AC3. While Sonos really should support DTS and doesn’t, I know of the receivers and TVs that also only support AC3 so feasibly it should be configurable in the player client what it can output.

Even in an ideal world where the Android TV box can detect what the TV is capable of, the TV might be passing through to a receiver which doesn’t support everything the TV does (which is the case for me).

This is a much needed option, and one that is already present in other plex clients (ex. the LG TV client). It would be great to get this feature prioritized.

Voted!

Yes, please, this is a much needed option, and quite odd that the Android App for smartphones does include this option. Since the APK is exactly the same for both Android TV and smartphones, seems like it’s intentionally hidden, I wonder why.

Really hope this gets fixed soon!
