I have an iTunes library which is pretty much tidy and how I want it, i.e. I’ve fixed the typical issues when tracks from the same album don’t show as a single album, added cover art etc.
So I assumed it would be a simple task to create a music library in Plex which simply referenced the directory structure in iTunes.
However it seems that Plex tries to be too clever… For example even though I have a given album set up in iTunes, in Plex it’ll show spilt amongst albums, also Plex doesn’t seem to use the embedded cover art.
Is there a simple way to fix this and make Plex dumber 
I’ve looked at plenty of posts which loosely mention issues like this but I haven’t been able to find a definitive resolution.
