One of my users made the following suggestion (verbatim), as he is frustrated with Plex’s kludgy way of batch-setting subtitles for downloaded (not streamed) video:
"I figured it out. I had to delete the download, and re-download ep 1 with subtitles set as on/Forced … is fine now. There is an issue (I think) with the interface. If you check the available settings for downloads, there is no configuration option for subtitles. If you download an individual episode, it downloads based on your selections currently on screen for viewing. The problem is if you download an entire season from the season menu (as I did) there is zero option on screen to configure subtitles. I am not sure what it does - whether it has a default of none, or uses the last config chosen - but you cannot choose it. And once downloaded by the way, if you try to watch you cannot override the downloaded config. If downloaded config had no subtitles and they are available through streaming, even if you try to stream it will play back the download with its set config. So the lesson for me is if subtitles are needed - always download one episode at a time with the right config chosen. "
Anyway, I thought it would be a good feature request …
