Hi guys,
I’ve noticed that I can no longer connect to Rasplex via the web gui using HTTPS. Is this a known issue? Connecting via the standard socket works without issues.
Hi guys,

Not a known issue, works OK for me, assuming you mean ‘casting’ from PlexWeb to Rasplex to start media playback, i.e. select Rasplex device in PlexWeb and then starting playback of media from PlexWeb.
Rasplex 0.7.0 is fully HTTPS compliant.

Hi Ned,
Well, it doesn’t work for me. Connecting through HTTPS and attempting to connect to Rasplex leads to the message, “There was a problem connecting to this player”.
I’ll have a scout through the logs and see what I can locate.
@markandlina:
You don’t mention if the same kind of casting with HTTPS works with other plex clients than RasPlex receiving the cast, like “Plex Home Theater” on a PC. This is basically the same program as RasPlex, with the same features (well, 99+% the same). So that’s a very relevant test to make, in order to figure out what’s going on.
If that also fails, then it might be due to a problem with the configuration of your PMS server.
Hmm. I just noticed that you used the phrase “can no longer” about this feature, which implies that you could do so at some earlier time. So we should focus on whatever changes occurred, either for RasPlex or PMS in the interval where this functionality was lost.

Here’s a couple of images of Safari connecting to Rasplex, there is obviously an issue with your configuration, could be PMS, Browser, Network, sorry.

Ned,
Was that using a HTTPS connection to Plex?
Most Plex clients use HTTPS, including Rasplex 0.7.0, now to connect to PMS, see https://blog.plex.tv/2015/06/04/its-not-easy-being-green-secure-communication-arrives/
Make sure you’re running the latest PMS.

I understand that, Ned.
I don’t have issues with other clients, i.e. iOS or Android, only with the web client when using a HTTPS connection. HTTP works fine.
iOS doesn’t use HTTPS yet, not sure about Android, haven’t got any Android devices, PlexWeb and Rasplex definitely do.
What’s your setting for PMS for Network->Secure connections?
Regards
Sure enough, that’s why iOS falls back… I have it set to preferred…
Can you please mark this as answered, thanks.
How is it answered? Perhaps I’m missing something?
Sorry, must have misunderstood your last post.
Are you logged into MyPlex on both RPi and PlexWeb, are they both on the same network, I assume you are running Rasplex 0.7.0, if so, how did you install, upgrade from 0.6.0 or fresh install?
Try to get logs posted, best way to do this is to turn on debugging in both PMS and RPi then restart PMS and then your RPi and then try to cast (this keeps the logs fairly small). Then post both logs here as attachments.

As a follow-up, have a look at this topic, seems to be an issue with PlexWeb and PHT (which is what Rasplex is based on).

It’s not a Rasplex issue.
