Help needed
Whenever I turn on subtitles (no matter which language) whatever I’m watching is buffering every couple of seconds, making it impossible to watch something… the buffering stops as soon as I remove subtitles. I prefer/need subtitles for some things so could really use some help.

With subtitles disabled is the audio or video direct playing / direct streaming / transcoding?
With subtitles enabled, is the audio or video direct playing / direct streaming / transcoding?
You can check via Plex Dashboard → Now Playing + Expanded View.
Subtitle support varies across Plex clients. What direct plays on one client may cause transcoding on another. It may also cause “subtitle burning” where the subtitle is added to the video image, not sent as a separate track.
If your CPU is not powerful enough to handle the process, you will experience buffering during playback.
Here’s an example of subtitle burning: Playing a movie using Plex Web with VOBSUB subtitles enabled. The browser does not support such subtitles, so they must be burned into the video stream.
