Constant reinstall because plex can't detect network drives

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

i’m running the plex app from my windows server2019 that has all the drives mapped.
each time i restart the server or get a powercut(this has happened alot recently) on booting the pc back up again plex can not see the network drives. i have to uninstall and reinstall it to get them to show up again.

how can i fix this?

Stopping and restarting the Plex server using its task tray icon should be sufficient.

that’s one of the first things i try, along with killing it in task manager.
but unfortunately the app still can not see the network drives.

How are you starting Plex server exactly?
Did you add a scheduled Windows task to run it? Or perhaps created it as a Windows system service?
Do you run it under a separate Windows user account than your own?
In any of the above cases, you should consider switching to use UNC paths instead of drive letters:

(You can try this approach with a separate, newly created library in Plex, without changing your existing libraries.)

i’ve tried using the built in “startup at login” and several task scheduler configs.

currently i have it set with task scheduler “at system startup” with the built in option disabled.
this starts plex as a background process.
I’ve added the libraries as UNC path so i’ll wait for another powercut to see what happens on reboot.

If you are using the UNC method anyway, IMHO you are better off with the service wrapper. PMS as a service

It doesn’t even require that a user is logged in, so the server can run headless.

after another reboot/powercut it can’t see the networkdrives again.
but the UNC paths are still active and it’s still up and running so yay

thank you for your help.
