Constant server drive activity whenever Rasplex is on

I’m using Rasplex 1.0.3 on a Raspberry Pi 3 and I like it a lot, but there’s one thing bugging me. Whenever Rasplex is running - and I mean just running, not even playing any media or browsing any libraries - the server’s hard drives are apparently constantly being accessed and never spin down like they normally do. The last time I checked, Rasplex kept them awake for straight three days. Is this normal behavior? I find a Rasplex client running 24/7 to be the most convenient solution, but this constant hard drive activity seems to be a bit of a waste.

The server is a NAS running the latest PMS Netgear ARM 5.X build and I have made sure that it’s Rasplex that’s waking up the drives. I have also tried the RPi version of Plex Media Player 1.0.6, and for most of the time it was running the drives remained idle, that is unless playback was initiated.

Recently coming from an OpenElec/PlexBMC combo, I too have noticed this with my NAS and Raspberry Pi 2. My PMS logs show this type of activity every couple of minutes when Rasplex is not being actively used. Is this intended behavior?

Any developments? My PMS’ logs are also filled with those entries.

I realized that since the Pi is on, it’s attempting to refresh the library sections every few minutes, even when not being actively used. Seems the only way to stop this activity is to perform a shutdown.
