Constantly need to reset plex server

I’ve seen many forums talking about the same topic but no solutions for years, or the solution was never posted.
I found an old thread here that was never answered but it’s the exact same issue
Essentially I have to reset my plex server every day or so.

Anyone have an answer?

So, tried to log in via the web (from a machine not on my network), and again couldn’t see my plex server.

Then disconnected the server from within Settings\Server\Connect, and reconnected. All worked, via android and web, after a few minutes.

This tells me the link between my local plex server and www.plex.tv vanished. But the port was still open on the router, because (a) I checked it via 3 different tools, and ( b ) this worked again without me changing anything after I reconnected the server. This strongly suggests a timeout issue within the plex code somewhere.“”“”

Sounds like some change to your remote access setup isn’t picked up or propagated fast enough.

Have you configured an ip reservation for the machine hosting your Plex Media Server within your router? Otherwise the router might assign a different local IP to your server every now and then.
Have you created a manual port forward on your router or do you rely on UPNP (automatic forwarding)?

  1. yes I have the IP address of my server reserved.
  2. no I have not forwarded, but I did “DMZ” for my server. A network friend told me that should fix the issue.
  3. there was a reply on the link I posted where they suspected that the internet service provider was changing the modems up addresses that the user(me) doesn’t see and has no control over.
    I suspect that IS the case, but then what would I do about it?
