Server Version#: 1.25.5.5492
Running Plex Server on my Synology DS218+.
Whenever I open the interface to my Plex server the activity icon shows it is scanning my music library. It seems to stick at some random folder and never stops. I can manually stop it but the next day I see it is stuck again at some other random folder. If I stop the scan I can manually select a scan on my music library and it will complete successfully. I have Plex set to scan libraries automatically and not to scan periodically.
The thing is, I’m not sure Plex is actually scanning when it shows the stuck activity. The bandwith monitor shows less than a half percent CPU usage and I don’t hear any excessive hard drive thrashing. All my music is in Flac or ALAC and I have no problems with playback. I also have a large TV library and and large movie library. Neither of those seem to indicate stuck scanning.
This is happening to me, too. I’m running on a plain Debian system. When it gets stuck I do not see the “Plex Media Scanner” program in the process list, so I think something is exiting and confusing the main Plex server. Plex thinks it hasn’t finished and refuses to move on to other libraries. I don’t see any errors in the scanner logs. This started happening about a week or two ago and has survived a couple Plex updates.
Version 1.25.5.5492, that is the version I’m running and I’m seeing the issue with scanning library too. Are you saying the the Beta Version 1.25.6.5545, could resolve this issue? I’m running a Synology 1530+ with DSM 7.0.1-42218 Update 2. Is there a way to start the scan without restating the NAS?
yes 5545 should resolve the issue. i am not sure about your scan question if it is stuck. either way, restarting plex would only be necessary not your nas. but just upgrade to 5545 and it should be fine.
