I am not sure if this is something that recently broke or if it was never working and I didn’t notice.
Issue: Content Ratings for a TV Show override the content rating for an individual episode
Detail: I have older teens, but I don’t allow them to watch TV-MA shows. Each of their profiles excludes TV-MA content in the TV Shows category. However, since not all of the “TV-MA” content I have loaded is “that bad”, I created a new rating, “TV-MA+”. I have specifically allowed TV-MA+ plus content in each of their profiles. I have set the South Park series to TV-MA+ to allow them to watch it, and I have specifically set each episode to TV-MA+. I have set the individual episode “Not Suitable for Children” to TV-MA to disallow access. However, this episode is still available on each of their profiles even through its rating is specifically disallowed.

Shouldn’t it be handled the opposite of what you are doing? As in, all Seasons/Show rate them TV-MA and then allow that single episode as TV-MA+? I would assume if you are trying to monitor what they watch it would be better for you to approve as needed then disapprove when you find out something isn’t suitable for them?
Not saying this isn’t an issue, but I guess I view it the opposite way especially if you are actively trying to control what they see (better to not see it until you approve then to allow something they shouldn’t see through).
I have confirmed your findings. Definitely an odd one. Technically, technically… it’s working as expected. Only Shows can have restrictions applied. You can change the episode rating but it doesn’t really do much. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen or heard of an episode having a different rating from it’s show. I expect to be wrong though . Either way, you don’t have a nice path to customize restrictions within a show’s episodes. You also cannot add Labels to episodes.
I’ve raised this internally. Thanks for reporting.
