'Continue Watching' across multiple servers

Server Version#: Latest
Player Version#: Latest

I appreciate this is basically a copy of a previous post I made (Continue Watching sync across servers - Plex Players - Plex Forum). I assume that the ‘Continue Watching’ still doesn’t sync across servers? The ‘watched state’ does and if I mark an episode/show/movie on one server it does update on others, however what I’m after is specifically the ‘Continue Watching’ bar.

My servers boot drive failed with no backup (I know…), so I re-installed the Media Server and re-created the libraries. The watched state is all good and marked the episodes as watched or not which is great, but now my ‘Continue Watching’ bar seems to be gone forever (I presume it was saved against the old server?). It would be good if it somehow knew what I was in the middle of watching so the Continue Watching bar would be retained.

It doesn’t. That kind of granularity is a bit too private to be stored on someone else’s computers (i.e. “the cloud”).

It only exists in the database file of the original server.
If your server is not a mini computer or laptop, I recommend to have a dedicated SSD for the Plex data folder.
It makes it more likely for your server data to survive a catastrophic failure of the system drive and/or other shenanigans.

Click on the TV library in your plex web app.
Set the view mode to “TV Shows” (which should be the default)
Set the ordering to “by date viewed”
This should allow you to see, which of these series you watched last. And then navigate to the first unwatched episode in them and start playback.
This should slowly re-populate your Continue Watching hub, as you watch the next episode of each series.

Thanks for the confirmation. Lesson learned I guess and good to know that my other previous post wasn’t me being stupid when others said it should do what I was asking when it clearly can’t
