Please make it possible to turn the “Continue Watching” feature on and off.
If you really want to get rid of the Continue Watching hub you can, at least for some clients.
In the web app, find these server settings and set them both to 0 (zero):
Settings -> [Select Server Name] -> Library -> Weeks to consider for Continue Watching
Settings -> [Select Server Name] -> Library -> Maximum number of Continue Watching items which will appear
For the web app and native desktop apps, an additional step is required (and possibly other clients as well). In these clients, navigate to Settings -> [Plex Web or Plex for x] -> General and then select Reset Customization.
Notes:
- I have an “Other Videos” type library which, if I order at the top of my pinned libraries, cause the Continue Watching hub to reappear. I’m not sure if that applies to any other videos library.
- If you use Plex’s on-demand Movies & Shows streaming feature, have it pinned, and have shows in progress, that will cause the Continue Watching hub to reappear as well. So make sure Movies & Shows isn’t pinned.
- Similar to the last note, if you’re using the “new experience” apps for iOS/Android, using the Movies & Shows streaming feature from Plex will enable the CW hub. But in that case you have to disable Movies & Shows at your account-level to remove the hub.
- I’ve not tested this outside of the web and desktop apps, and the new experience apps for iOS and Android. This might not work for every client.
