Hub´s were reorganized after update to 8.13.0. Adding continue watching for movie library when hubs are manual sorted is not possible. It shows enabled but not show in Home Hub. Only when selecting Auto Home it is there.
Same for the Fire TV. (currently 8.13.1)
Hubs have become even less useful than previous and the configuration constantly drops to a default which is very annoying.
Here is a list of grievances for plex should they wish to correct them:
- Continue Watching is missing from the Home hub
- You can not unpin Playlists
- You can not order the individual hubs
- Home screen constantly resets to defaults
- Watched videos show as unwatched in the Continue Watching of the respective hub
- Crashes regularly
Thanks plex
For me i downgraded to 8.11 and disabled auto updates.
… and as hope looms on the ever cresting horizon, plex dashes it with incompetence!
ver 8.13.223227 has even more problems! It does not address any existing issues already mentioned here AND NOW it no longer displays Recently added of any library as determined in their individual hubs!
Stellar work!
There have been a couple updates since then. have you tried updating to 8.14.1 Plex for Android - #379 by sixones
Please don’t offer side loaded apk’s for issues! … especiallywhen the update notes do not address the issue at hand! Since the issue is not mentioned, I doubt it will fix the issue when I do receive the update. @BigWheel Do not offer false hope, it makes it worse!
A lot of hubs start disappearing/reappearing randomly in 8.14.1 also. Sigh…
@Aug045 Thanks for the heads up!
I’m also experiencing a lot of hub weirdness on my Shields (Live TV hubs missing completely; Recently added not showing up on Home any more, and can’t add or remove it from the library hub etc)…
Clearing cache or force stop or restarts do nothing - might try an app reinstall.
Update: Ver 8.15.0.23855 (1139686d)
After having to reconfigure my entire interface again (thanks @plex !!), there were a few niggling issues that stood out immediately:
- Duplicate hubs
- Hubs not responding to (Pin/Unpin) actions
- No On Deck option at all in any hub!!! Not Home, not the individual libraries!! Nowhere!!!
I will update here in a few days to see if the issues calm down.
But for now where is On Deck ?! Is this an error, a bug or a planned feature request?
Frankly I do not expect an answer, but I do expect the feature to be returned!!
… and the hope dwindles!
On deck is merged into Continue Watching. If you are on the home screen then is is a single ContinueWatching row with all things from the pinned sources in side bar. If in an individual library it is just items from that library
I am unsure how stupid you believe end users to be and I suggest you use greater caution from this point forward.
I am, however, able to assess your responses to your product and make an assessment on the accuracy of your answers.
Verdict: Innacurate!
I can state clearly and unequivocally, that your statement is not true for my device. There are only partially viewed videos in the Continue Watching hub
The On Deck videos do appear in the web GUI Continue Watching hub, but this does little to assuage me as I do not watch nor use the web GUI for my general viewing needs.
Please fix it!
Please take a screenshot of your home screen.
Also custom home as it was is going away if you are using that. There should have been an announcement in app if you are on the latest one.
I do not have ready access to screenshot functionality.
I did see several adds for coming features, I did not see a notice advising the custom or “managed” home screen was being deprecated. Where else is there a notification of the EOL of that feature ?
The notice in the app was the first announcement. it was in the web app last week and the other apps today. It is happening towards the end of April.
This was what that screen said. It would only show if you had custom home set up.
Info about how the new way to control which rows show up on your home screen can be found here. https://support.plex.tv/articles/manage-recommendations/
@BigWheel Thanks for the heads up.
I read the article in the link. It appears that control is reverting away from the player and back to the server for admins only. Can you confirm that?
the player will be able to control which libraries are pinned to home screen. (If a library from a server is pinned and you create and share a new library it will get auto pinned but a player user can remove it as they may have no interest in X library someone might share with them)
What the sever owner controls is which rows show up for a library when pinned or on the library page. Like if you don’t want your shared users to see “Top Movies in {genre}” from your movie library then you can disable those per library.
We are working on the ability to create custom rows as well.
While I disapprove of the loss of granular control, I appreciate the heads up and am able to understand from a developers standpoint why @plex would choose to deprecate it.
If it lends to a more stable experience at the many players I use, then, while I will miss it, I can tolerate it.
Update: While chatting here, I have reset/restarted/cache cleared…etc my Fire TV and have managed to find one On Deck video appearing in the local library hub only. For clarity, as according to the server GUI, there are many more On Deck videos not appearing in the library hub Continue Watching, and no On Deck videos_ appear in the Home Continue Watching hub.
Edit See update below
Ok can you confirm which server version you are on so we can try to repro.
Plex Server: 1.22.1.4275
OS: Ubuntu 18.04 server
Player used or testing:
Fire TV: Ver 8.15.0.23855 (1139686d)
