Continue Watching shows 2 versions of the same movie

Server Version#: 1.27.1.5916
Player Version#:1.46.1.3056-ab91bdc0

Hello,

I have 2 libraries :

  • 1 for FullHD Movies
  • 1 for 4K movies

When I have the same movie in both libraries and I start watching the 4K version, I also have the FullHD version showing in “Continue Watching” on the dashboard. When I want to resume the movie, I never know which movie is which. I have to click on one of the movie to see if it has the 4K label or not. It’s annoying.

Anyone else having this ?

Thank you

IIRC that’s by design because Plex only tracks view states by a movie GUID (independent of individual libraries). You might be able to compensate for that by configuring the visibility of one of those libraries to be hidden from the search / home screen.

One other thing to try, change the poster for the 4K version, pick one with the “4K UHD” banner at the top.

That’s a good solution for this specific movie FordGuy but I had this same trouble with a tv show that didn’t have that option. I sometimes keep a dubbed version vs. subtitled for people with different preferences but I essentially abandoned that for this reason.

Instead of hiding an entire library would it be easier just to temporarily unmatch one copy?

Also I’m curious, if you share libraries with multiple people who may have the same movie do 3, 4, 5 copies all show up in the continue watching?

If so, that would be beyond just annoying and there should be an easier workaround
