Duplicated entry in "Continue Watching"

Server Version#: 4.114.3
Player Version#: Android TV, Web browser, Android Phone

I have “Movies” and “Movies 4k” library. If I have same movie in 2160p file (Movies 4k) and 1080p file (“Movies” library) when I start watching one of them, I will then see 2 posters in “Continue watching” bit on homepage (see screenshot below). So gives me the option to continue watching the movie in 1080p or 2160p. Should it not just remember I was watching 4k version and only show one? it’s not a big thing, but aesthetically doesn’t feel right when alongside all other movies I didn’t finish watching there are doubled up entries?

plexcontinuewatching

Visibility settings doesn’t really have right effect then I can’t see anything e.g. Movies 4k on homepage and “continue watching” shows the 1080p file (when I started watching 2160p file).

I like to keep those libraries separate as with my family (external users) I don’t want to share the 4k files.

This is just how it works. It’s not a bug

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) {edition-4k}.mkv should solve that.

On home screen is from all libraries pinned to side bar. To Plex any particular movie is just that movie regardless of how many copies of it you have. Both those share the same ID number.

If you only watch the 4k version on your Tv for example only pin that 4k library and only it will show up in CW on the home screen. If you only use the 1080p file on your phone then only pin that to side bar on phone.

You can use Editions as mentioned above just be aware they do not work with Watch State Syncing . https://support.plex.tv/articles/multiple-editions/
