Control Clients from Plex/Web

Not sure if there's already a thread for this, but it'd be a great feature, especially in conjunction with http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/67881-airplayairtunes-devices-as-remote-players/

Okay, I have gone through this forum looking at all feature requests with "remote" in it, but wasn't able find anything else regarding this request. Some more information on what is possible and missing.

Already implemented

- Send media to player

Dearly missing

- Ability to control player playback (Play, Pause, Skip and the like)

- Ability to control player volume

- Ability to set default player so that a click on just "play" does send the song to the default player instead of playing it inside Plex/Web - similar to what is currently available for iOS

- Current status of the player (title, position, playback status)

Reasoning behind this:

I am working at my main PC during the day. In the next room I have my stereo connected to a mostly headless PHT (sometimes runs a projector). When I want to play a couple of tunes it is super comfortable just to have Plex/Web open and select the song / album to be played. But I cannot put the player on pause or change the volume using Plex/Web, for example when I receive a call. I have to either fire up my iPad and use an XBMC remote app to control volume / playback or pick up my IR-remote to make changes. Both are not necessarily in immediate reach of where I work and especially iOS is not really that good when it comes to resuming apps, always takes a couple of seconds too long.

+1

i would also appreciate support for the other way around - controlling Plex/Web from Clients like Android or iOS.

snikay, please "like" the initial post, that is the way they track the votes (where it eventually gets its "popular" status from). +1 posts are still nice to bump the threads up, but they don't count as votes.

Yes, good point on the reverse control direction, that would be nice as well.

bump
