Control playback on connected players

Scenario - a player in the kid’s bedroom is connected and shows up in dashboard. It would be great to be able to control that from the media server UI. Select what video to play, start playing a crashed video again, etc.

We use plex daily to play sleeptime videos in the kids room which sometimes crash but the player still shows connected to plex on the TV. It would be great to be able to start it playing again without having to go in the room.

Well, not quite. Controlling the other app only works if the app is running. If the app crashed then you won’t be able to control it.

I’d be more interested in getting the crash fixed. Care to share more about that?

  • implemented (flinging and remote control while Plex app is running on the tv)
  • crash → abandoned
