I have a large number of audio books, most of which are in multi-track mp3’s of each CD.
when viewing them Plex seems to order 1,10,11 and so on. If disk 11 say is at the end of a longer name it is hard/tedious to get the correct file, and the sequencing (i.e. rolling from disk 1 to disk 2 does not then work smoothly).
I have a phone app called smart audiobook that manages this well in all respects, while the same filenames appear chaotic in Plex. Something simple like displaying Album/disk no, and sorting in a proper numerical sequence.
I’d like to know exactly how Plex sorts and how to ensure that the track names are clear. If I am to edit these files I will only do it once. At present nobody listens to them…
Thanks
Plex will order your tracks by disc number, then track number regardless of the text for the track titles. The trick is to push local media assets to the top of your agents for premium music on albums and artists. In this way, it will always respect the tags you provide.
Many thanks - very helpful.
