"Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error"

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156
Player Version#: 4.147.1
Hello,

I recently started to have the “Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error” error on a single TV series, the file would not start or will crash after some time and won’t be able to be played again.

I saw those two errors in the logs :

Nov 16, 2025 10:21:31.497 [140046520761144] ERROR - [Req#1ad0d9/Transcode/hud0dxklpnqe83a5rkwumcxn/6e0c0559-d919-4f24-a491-03d357fd55f2] [eac3_eae @ 0x7f804a314ac0] Cannot group in blocks of 6!

But “Invalid data found when processing input” is too generic and “Cannot group in blocks of 6!” has never been posted on this forum !

Does someone knows what to do to fix that error ?

ive had the same problem since 1.42.2.10156 :slightly_frowning_face: i put up a post a couple weeks ago but nothing hope the problem is sorted next update when ever they decide to release one

Did you check your inotify values?

Did you got any answers or solutions ? Do we know what cause this ?

Just did and followed the post you linked, however i have wayyy less than 8192 folders… So shouldn’t be that. Thank you for the idea anyway !

i sure havent when i looked yesterday im just waiting for next update and hope that fixes whatever is going on ill just keep watching movies

The blocking fixes (multiples of 6) was implemented in PMS several releases ago.

May I get a sample of the file to test here?
(I think it’s a damaged / incorrectly encoded media file)

Hi, thank you for answering !

How am i supposed to provide a sample of the file ?

Is the blocking fixes important or can it be turned off ? sometimes plex can play most of the file without any problem so i’m wondering…

Sorry! I forgot to give you the link for creating a sample file.

We can’t ‘turn off’ the blocking. It’s part of the Dolby-provided encoder. Dolby requires we send it audio in groups of 6 audio segments (blocks). It then converts the audio to the output format needed.

I’m sending you a link so you can attach the file (if small enough) or a download link where I can get it.

Ok i should have done what you asked !
