Corrupted cached posters of music artists and albums

Server Device: DS920+
Server OS: 7.1-42661 Update 2
Server Version DSM: 1.27.2.5929
Server Version Docker: 1.27.2.5929

Player Version Web: 4.85.1

I ran into a strange problem where the images of music artists and albums are disappeared (was there for sure). Also in some cases the artist image is displayed inside the overview but not when the collection is opened.
I tried it with the native server app as well as with the docker container, both with the same result.

Between different clients (web and Windows App) the problems are of different degrees.
Movies and Series seems not to be affected and the images are displayed in both clients.

So far I have tried to remove an artist and add it to the library again, but this does not solve the issue. Also updating the metadata doesn’t have any effect.

There’s a manual way to work with thumbnails and the like described by plex below. I’d test it out on a few films to see how it works before I unleashed it on a whole section.

When you want to work with a single film, tv episode, or song, they each have unique Item ID. To get that number, open a Plex Player, mouse over the film, click the 3 dots > Get Info … > View XML. When the XML output opens in your browser, the number listed like this is the Item ID:

<Video ratingKey="8166"

Thanks for your reply nibbles,

I don’t get what I should do with your information.
I already tried to update the metadata and also to delete all files of an artist from the drive and add the files again, but the problem keeps the same.

I can’t exactly tell since when the problem exists, because in the Windows app everything looks fine (I guess it’s due to caching of the client).
Everywhere in in music section the posters of artists and albums are gone (fully or partially) and there is nothing to select anymore that is working, regardless if the images were downloaded from an agent or uploaded manually in the past.

The only thing that worked was uploading a new poster manually that has’t existed before, but I really don’t like to spend hours for reupload them manually.
I’ve never changed or moved files manually and therefore it is unclear to me how almost the complete music image cache gets corrupted.

In a private message I suggested a Plex Dance of the affected items.
Maybe that’ll work on the corrupted photos in addition to the sql database.

I didn’t have corrupted art that I know of but it was pulling low res background images for some reason. I did the Plex Dance and it seems to have fixed the issue with my background art.

I gave it a try with the Plex Dance and it worked.

I’m glad that I just need to modify some of the posters instead of all .

Edit:
The downside of this method is that all my playlists are gone.
