Empty posters again... and again

Plex is installed on Debian in VM. From the begginng there was a problem with auto uploading posters — when movie or show is matched, all metadata shows, except posters and background. Poster remains empty.
If i try to edit movie manually, there are several posters suggested at edit—posters. But if i choose one of them, it is applied as empty also and became empty in suggestion.

Posters work only if i upload file by myself.

I tried all metadata agents — same thing.
Maybe is there permission problem with metadata directory?

Seeing exact same problem on Shield TV server. Sporadic and random. For some items the posters load without issue, others they just disappear as per OP’s description. Can manually add but that’s a major bal*ache. Thus far no other solutions.

Yes, exact same behaviour.

Need debug logs ZIP file ; captured after Scan Files and/or Refresh Metadata.

The zip will let me see if there are hard errors or configuration errors.

Here it is. Scan library, refresh all metadata, refresh metadata of individual items was done

@d_nekrasov

Your logs show PMS does not like any of the photos in the cache.

Would you please do the following then retest ?
(manually purge everything in the photo/poster cache.)

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Terminal window
  3. sudo rm -rf "/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Cache/PhotoTranscoder/*"
  4. Start Plex
  5. Open a library section, giving it the time needed to regerate the posters.

If this fails, download the logs ZIP file and attach please.

I cleaned out this directory, restrarted Plex, tried refreshing all metadata — same thing.

For what it’s worth - this is happening in exactly the same way as OP described, that is media is scanned, the image disappears, if I try to manually select an artwork then the selected artwork disappears and shows blank in the poster selection pane.

I had just migrated my server to a new Shield TV when this started to occur. It is only affecting my music media which is located on a USB drive directly attached to the Shield. Other media - movies, TV etc - accessed across my LAN seem unaffected. I had migrated a working server to the newly installed server on the Shield but did not copy over any cache folders, just the metadata and media folders, pref etc. The Shield recognised everything, marking unavailable items with red dustbin icons until I reconnected the libraries at which point it started scanning the media. As I say media stored on NAS drives were scanned and existing posters used. Only the media on the USB drive had posters replaced. One odd thing is that the scanner also seems to be grabbing artist images and use those to replace album artwork, so for eg all Rolling Stones albums now have the same image of the band as their cover art … the scanner also seems to be ignoring embedded images, this is particularly annoying since my Classical Music section was set up just to use the embedded images and metadata.

If you want more logs to examine please let me know and I will try to provide them, the scanner is merrily scraping away still, trashing what had been a perfectly good server. Luckily I still have my old server on standby, though I’m loath to reactivate it for fear of the same thing happening.

No solution?
