"could not load photo" playback issue

Hi, I have Plex running on my Sinology NAS, with videos and photos. Movies work flawlessly, while Plex is able to show folders and thumbnails inside the photo library, but when you open a photo in the browser it shows “table to load photo” - if you do it from your mobile, it shows the thumbnails but when opening a photo keeps loading forever.
What’s missing?
Anybody has the same issue?

NAS: Sinology DS720+, running DSM 7.1-42661 Update 4
Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319-7000
Player Version#: Plex for iOS 8.9 / app.plex.tv

Just updated to latest available Plex server, 1.29.0.6244-7000.
No change.
