There are actually channels that use AAC audio instead of Dolby Digital?
Everything I’ve seen, since 2001, from OTA has been DD with ATSC 1.0. And more recently AC-4 from ATSC 3.0. And with cable, from FiOS and Comcast, I’ve only seen Dolby Digital as well.
