Could we get an indicator of local, shared, remote, VOD content on posters or in the description?

While VOD now shows up in a Movies & TV library? I don’t think the distinctions is very clear. With the many sources we have for plex content maybe we should have an optional poster icon for local, shared, web, VOD ?

An icon or note on the video detail page would also be nice.

It is particularly annoying to accidentally open the ad version of content you already have.

Edit: I mean something distinct nearly everywhere including search results to better differentiate content sources.

yes please

I don’t understand you here.
The VOD will appear in its own library.
I don’t see those VOD movies mixed-in with my own content.

primarily the search results.

yes, content results are divided into sections.

which while labeled, puts all other content before local content.

Ah, this annoyed me too already.
But it is not mentioned in the OP above.

This is the case when performing searches from the Home Screen (web client) but local content is prioritized in the results when searching from local libraries.

I rarely leave the home screen.

I use the home search and add the library hubs that I typically watch to the home screen.

I don’t mind and it is nice to have additional content sources, but I want to see MY content first. Not PLEX content.

Did some testing later today and I think they have tweaked the result order.

The name of the VOD content library is Movies & TV it isn’t that distinct but it clearly doesn’t stand out to family members.

2022 clean-up: implemented

  • online media source libraries are tagged as on Plex
  • search results are reordered and indicated as on-demand content
