One of the problems with the Movies & TV / Video on demand content for me is not that it is ad supported, rather that each time I look at the library I see totally different content. Usually I will see something that I want to watch, but not right now. When I come back at a later point the view is changed and I can’t remember what it was I wanted to watch.
Furthermore, the Home screen for all content does not feature content from Movies & TV.
That said, a couple of possible solutions… each of which should be down to an end user, or administrator to use, or not, but be disabled by default.
- a way of tagging content in Movies & TV so that I can find it later
- a watch later, or simple playlist functionality… not the same as watch next
- a way to show VoD content on the home screen
- or even a way to add specific content in to my own curated library - but make it obvious from the library view that the content is ad supported. e.g. different colour accent on the cover art.
I know many people are against the new VoD feature, but I have found there’s some great documentaries and sports movies/docs on the service that I simply cannot find easily anywhere else (e.g. a crazy amount of old and new ski movies), and I love that it’s available as an option directly within the plex app, just it’s hard to find.
