I have installed PMS new and scanned my audio (option use embedded tags) and video files again.
Why does PMS not show either the embedded cover art from the tags or the folder.jpg automatically
when I check my music library?
Either the embedded cover art or the folder.jpg are shown under “posters”, how can I select them
automatically that these pictures are shown in the music library?
It should do that automatically (and does for me, e.g.) We’d need more data about your system and possibly some logs to figure out what’s going on there.
I have exactly the same problem. Did you find a solution? I don’t really fancy manually selecting a “poster” for 2,000 albums.

Are you not seeing cover art in just Plexamp, or elsewhere?
